Property tax collections across Minnesota would jump by 10.2 percent in 2006 if all current proposals on "Truth-in-Taxation" statements prepared by local governments are adopted, Revenue Commissioner Dan Salomone and Assistant Education Commissioner Chas Anderson warned. The value of all property in St. Louis County increased by more than$14 million in the past year. That means that even if tax rates go down, many people are taxed on more valuable property, so their taxes go up. That's the number that appears on the Truth-in-Taxation statements.
